In collaboration with Represent Justice, this months FFC film of choice is the powerful and important film Kemba by Kelley Kali.
This film holds significant importance to us as it is based on a true story and sheds light on the US criminal justice system in a way that will not only shock you but also open your mind.
'Kemba' is based on the true story of criminal justice reform advocate Kemba Smith, who fell in love with a drug kingpin as a college student and found herself on a dangerous path with life-changing consequences.
On April 10th FFC members will come together for an FFC film chat roundtable sharing ideas and thoughts about the film. This will followed by a Q&A with Kelley Kali the director of Kemba. We will walk us through her industry journey, the behind the scenes of Kemba and so much advice and inspiration that will help each members individual film journey.
In the FFC, we exclusively select films that inspire and drive change. We chose Kemba because we believe in stories that open our minds and make a difference, and the story of Kemba was one that needed to be seen, told, and shared worldwide. It sheds light on the flaws of the US legal justice system and empowers us to advocate for a more just and fair system.
